Searching by Location & Criteria
In both Map View and List View, searching for properties by criteria involves three simple steps: Specifying a location, entering property criteria, and if necessary, adjusting the search until you achieve between 1 and 5000 property matches. A new search is initiated every time you click Search.
To search for properties by criteria in Map View:
- When you start your search on the Windermere.com home page,
select View results as: Map.
- On the next page, use the map to refine your search location. For more information, see Using the Map.
- To the right of the map, locate the Listings tab.
- At the top of the tab, make sure By Property Criteria is selected.
- Set your basic search criteria, such as minimum and maximum list price, minimum bedroom count, and minimum bathroom count.
- To display only properties with upcoming open houses, select a time frame from the Open Houses list.
- To set additional search criteria, click More Options. The list expands.
Tips: - Adding checkmarks in the middle column (Residential, etc.) increases the number of search results. Adding a checkmark here is like saying "Include this type of property in my search results."
- Adding checkmarks in the right column (Waterfront, etc.) decreases the number of search results. Adding a checkmark here is like saying "Limit my search results to only this type of property."
- Adding a checkmark to Rentals clears the checkboxes for all other property types (middle column).
- In the Year Built and Square Feet fields, a blank box means "no limit" and you can fill out the first box, the second box, both boxes, or neither. For example, Year Built: ___ to 1940 would return only properties built before 1941. Square Feet: 1000 to ___ would return only properties of 1,000 square feet or more.
- In the New in last ___ days box, enter a number to say "Limit my search results to only properties that were listed in the last [specified number of] days".
- To display only properties with upcoming open houses, select a time frame from the Open Houses list.
- Click Search. The status of the search is displayed in the blue status bar on the map.
When the search process completes, the number of properties that match your criteria is updated in the yellow band on the Listings tab.
When your search produces between 1 and 5000 matches, a pushpin appears on the map at each property location and a list of the matching properties appears on the Listings tab. For more information, see Viewing Results in Map View. - If the number of matches is greater than 5000, narrow your search. If the number of matches is 0 (zero), expand your search.
To search for properties by criteria in List View:
- When you start your search on the Windermere.com home page,
select View results as: List.
- On the next page, locate the Criteria tab.
- Specify your location and search criteria.
